The safety, security and environmental impact of our food is of increasing public interest, with issues such as animal welfare, organic farming and food miles receiving wide media coverage and the subject of national debate.
Food Strategy & Policy
Harper Adams has several members of staff who are experts in food science, business and other key areas of strategic importance to future food security and sustainability. Their research and teaching work is contributing to the debates around future food strategy in the UK, for example in calling for democratic governments to develop a food policy that ensures a properly nourished population. Harper Adams has an important part to play in delivering the Government Strategy Food 2030. The West Midlands Regional Food Academy is a Harper based initiative playing a vital part the development of the Food Industry. The state of the art Academy, lower right photo, opened in December 2009. The primary aim of the Academy and its partners is to assist regional food businesses to develop and grow, thus contributing to the economic prosperity of the West Midlands region.
